Buy the hardware[edit]

You will need:

Download the image[edit]

On a Windows pc[edit]

  • Run WinRAR to unzip (free download)
  • Write (not copy) the image to the SD card using Win32 Disk Imager. To install Win32DiskImager on windows, download the latest version of the installer – the current link is labelled: Download "Holy cow, we made a 1.0 Release" (12.6 MB) – and then run the installer.

Start up[edit]

The first power-on may take a little time as some initialisation has to be done. You should eventually see on a remote device a WiFi signal available broadcasting with the SSID of "Internet in a Box" as an open access point (i.e. you may connect without any password, etc.). On connection, you may receive a notice stating that no internet access is available on the connection. That is expected.

Once you have connected to IiaB, open a browser and type http://box.lan in the address bar and select go or press Enter. That should bring up a screen resembling this and you can then explore the content.
