Where did you get these quotes from? I'm adding some using Fundraising_2007/comments (the dates part) and don't want to duplicate yours. Cbrown1023 talk 19:46, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh... well, I got them from donate.wikimedia.org, and I didn't know about all the comments system (I saw a link to thispage from foundation-l). So there may be duplicate indeed... sorry about that... le Korrigan bla 21:37, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's quite alright! Thanks for trying to help! :-) You can bold the ones that you like on the pages I linked (non-english ones are preferred if you can) and I will add them when I add all the other ones. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 22:06, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'll have a look at some point. Meanwhile, you can already add those above which are in a foreign language (they aren't in yet), I just bolded them. le Korrigan bla 22:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Consistent formatting[edit]

Could we consistently add attribution, and then remove all quotes that don't have it? Then we can ask Brion to be smarter about the quotation marks. Also, we should be consistent about the — or whatever we use for the attribution.--Eloquence 22:53, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Remember that many quotes are anonymous, so maybe those without shouldn't be removed ? le Korrigan bla 23:06, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm going to do some aggressive refactoring, bear with me.--Eloquence 23:09, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK, done. We've got rid of quite a few old ones, which is probably not a bad idea in any case, since it keeps things fresh. But we need more non-English ones.--Eloquence 00:02, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
We need volunteers who understand those languages to select them first... but they're all busy with translations. :-( We also need non-Wikipedia project ones. Cbrown1023 talk 00:06, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Updates from previous drives[edit]

Some selected quotes from the Q1 2005 drive added. Pity about the size limit, since my all-time favorite is (and many of my other favorites are) fairly long:

"Before I knew about Wikipedia, I was afraid. I thought most people in the world were jerks, bigots, or just plain bad people. Then, while looking around at wikipedia and seeing how it worked, I couldn't see how that could be true. Wikipedia just could not exist if it was true: if bad people outnumbered, outgunned, and out-shouted the good. I came to the conclusion that more people in the world were good than bad. That the chances were good that the man you bumped on the train is a good person, that the lady behind the cash register is a good person, that the bus driver is a good person. Wikipedia restored my faith in humanity, and my outlook on life has changed because of it. Thank you." by Christopher Hutten-Czapski

More updates from other drives later. --Daniel Mayer 03:06, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Arabic[edit]

Please don't add Arabic quotes to this list -- they don't get along well with ltor text, and they render incorrectly for most of our users who do not have the necessary unicode support for their browsers. If someone would be so kind as to remove the Arabic quotes (I only see one) from the list, it would be much appreciated. Thanks. AmiDaniel 20:42, 9 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I assume you are talking about the "Persian" one, I have turned that into a non-active line. Cbrown1023 talk 05:14, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
Persian, Arabic ... they're all Greek to me :D Thanks, Cbrown1023. AmiDaniel 07:09, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
