On January 1, 2021, an offline meetup organized by Mainland China's Chinese Wikipedia editors to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Wikipedia was held in Beijing. Introducing Chinese Wikipedia and teaching novice was the main content, and participants also discussed some topics on technology, community, and so on. This is the 19th time that the Chinese mainland community has been holding public events in Beijing. Like the previous event, the event was held near the National Library of China.

Main Content[edit]

The meetup was held from 10:30 till 21:00, One of the major parts of this meetup was explaining the important rules of Wikipedia to novices. Since there were several experienced editors as well as researchers interested in Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, attendees were divided into different groups to discuss several other interesting topics in detail. As Wikipedia turns 20 this year, attendees celebrated this event by looking back into Wikipedia's development in the past 20 years, especially in Mainland China, and expressing their best wishes for Wikipedia's future. After 17:00, attendees gradually left the meetup, and the topic of the talk changed to problems facing by the local community, as well as activities planned to carry out by the Wikimedians of Mainland China (User Group). The meetup concluded at 21:00.

As Beijing suffered from a new local outbreak, attendees of the meetup had taken more precautions against COVID-19.
