MiszaBot[edit]

The following discussion is closed: Flagged

I have been asked to run my "famous" archiving bot here, so here I am.

Bot flag is required so that it doesn't trigger the "orange bar of death" when archiving user talk pages. Миша13 23:52, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Will it be able to archive places like Meta:Babel, Steward requests/Permissions and WikiForum, as well as talk pages? Majorly talk 23:59, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, no and dunno. The format of SRP is unusual and will not be handled until I'm done with the rewrite and the page parser becomes more flexible. But pretty much everything that uses the standard action=edit&section=new routine can be covered. I don't know what's there to archive at WikiForum - doesn't look like a discussion page to me. Oops. I meant Wikimedia Forum. I asked because on enwiki, there are different bots for different areas. I assume this one bot will do the same? Majorly talk 00:26, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In that case the answer is positive. The bot will not archive any page by definition though - it must be configured for each individually. On enwiki there are 3 bots that operate in different namespaces. Meta is a lot less active and one bot will operate in all. Миша13 07:48, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Just a quick note for those unfamiliar. The bot runs this task on a number of projects such as Commons, enwiki, enbooks and others. Would be an asset to Meta for some of the noticeboards and other pages. - Rjd0060 00:03, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see no quibbles with flagging this in, say, 24 hours. Just give it a day or so to be seen, but, after that, since this is such a well-known bot, I think it'd be no problem to flag it. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 01:14, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Obviously. Yes please.  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 04:38, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
