Offline Projects/Partnership Page/Agenda India Nov2011

Purpose of trip[edit]

I am going to be going to the WikiConference India in November 2011 to help with some usability testing on the Offline Reader, While I'm in India, I also want to set up a series of meetings in order to further the distrbution of offline Wikipedia in highly leveraged ways. In the past, we have partnered, for example, with SOS Children's Villages, which installed the offline Wikipedia into virtually all the computers within their schools/children's homes around the world! We should do this in India, as well, and it seems like there are several potential parties which are on the verge of massive computer deployments, including the Kerala government, the TN government, and Aakash.

Below is the schedule of the meetings which are being set up; please also feel free to suggest additional contacts for me/us to meet while there. Good partners are generally those organizations which (1) mass produce hardware (e.g., computer manufacturer), (2) mass provide software (e.g., Canonical), or (3) mass supply hardware/software (e.g., government, NGOs).
