Ohio Wikimedians User Group/Reports/2016-17
Summary
Overall, the first year of the Ohio Wikimedians User Group was fruitful and eventful. The Wikipedia Connection student organization at the Ohio State University (which existed before the formation of the user group) hosted the vast majority of Wikimedia-related events in Ohio, including edit-a-thons, a #1Lib1Ref event, and more. Outside of Wikipedia Connection, Ohio Wikimedian User Group members supported a variety of Art+Feminism events throughout the state, as well as hosted a Wiknic in the summer of 2017. The combination of all these events included over 160 unique attendees throughout the state.
Moving into the 2017-2018 year, Wikipedia Connection continues to host events at the Ohio State University with new student leadersship. The Ohio Wikimedians User Group plans to encourage Ohioan participation in events (both online and off), as well as to build a reliable network of individuals (including Wikimedians and librarians) to support the movement.
