Public Policy Advocacy Team (Nigeria)

The Public Policy Advocacy Team ( Nigeria) is a people-driven initiative to envision and engage in social change in public policies and human rights, enhancing a friendly internet environment for open knowledge. The group intends to engage relevant stakeholders within the country's open knowledge space, providing information about ongoing and future activities, opportunities, and challenges related to the impact of public policies on open knowledge.

Background Nigeria stands at a pivotal juncture in its history, where the strategic promotion and widespread dissemination of open knowledge promise to significantly propel its socioeconomic development and enrich its deep-rooted traditions and cultural legacies. Open knowledge is predicated on removing barriers to information access, ensuring that data and resources are freely available, easily accessible, and legally reusable by anyone, anywhere, at any time. This concept is about leveling the playing field and democratizing access to knowledge, liberating the full potential of individuals, communities, and institutions.
