Learning
[edit]Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:
- What worked well?
The project had several successes. The trips and awareness sessions were well-organized and effective, allowing us to connect with the community. Creating new accounts for participants also went smoothly, helping many new users join the Wikimedia community. This easy onboarding process encouraged more people to participate and contribute to Wikimedia projects.
- What did not work so well?
One challenge we faced was dealing with IP blocks during the editing sessions. This issue disrupted our activities and made it difficult for participants to edit and contribute to Wikimedia projects smoothly.
- What would you do differently next time?
Next time, we would prepare in advance by coordinating with Wikimedia's technical support to prevent IP blocks during our sessions. We would also explore using IP block exemptions for participants or arranging a dedicated IP address for the event. This way, we can ensure smoother editing sessions without interruptions.

Here is a breakdown of the costs:Trips expenses: Transport and refreshments for 5 participants, 3,000 NGN per person, totaling 15,000 NGN.Hall rental: 40,000 NGN per day for 2 days, totaling 80,000 NGN.Food and refreshments for participants: 20,000 NGN per day for 2 days, totaling 40,000 NGN.Banner: 10,000 NGN.Flyers: 10,000 NGN.T-shirts: 5,000 NGN each for 2 shirts, totaling 10,000 NGN.Contingency: 20,000 NGN.
