Requests for comment/Banned without any explanation

Dear Sirs,

I would like to raise with you an issue that came up in Wikipedia Israel.

I have been editing Wikipedia since 10.8.2023. I usually edited articles that were automatically suggested to me by the algorithm that suggests articles that need editing. Sometimes I found articles worthy of correction myself. I was never informed that my edit was improper, except for two or three times when I was commented on minor technical matters. All the edits I made were supported by reliable sources. Over time, I also got the right to vote, and I did so when I felt that voting was meaningful to me and that my position on it was clear.

In early June 2024, I found a message on my user page stating that I had been permanently blocked from editing and voting. The message was accompanied by a link to a page explaining the reasons for this. I state that none of the reasons stated there apply to me: it says that "we have made a decision not to disclose to the community how we have reviewed these editors."

I must point out that I was not warned, and I was not told what I was accused of. After a few days, I was allowed to state my case on my talk page, but my requests from there to those identified as the perpetrators of the block went unanswered for many days. After announcing that I was going to contact you, I received responses, but nothing new was said. My suggestion that I be allowed to continue editing and that the matter of vote will be clarified later was denied, again without any reasonable explanation. I have been offered to change my nickname and IP, but I am not willing to do so, because it seems dishonest.

I am not happy to involve outside people in what is happening on the Hebrew Wikipedia, but in the circumstances that have arisen, I would be happy if you would intervene. Here is the link to the discussion on my talk page, it is in Hebrew, I hope it will translate.

Comment Comment After carefully reading your rationale and the hewiki talk page it seems like there exists a third thread regarding the block of this group you're presumably a part of. Could you please link it here? Furthermore, was the block of pure sysop nature or was it a check-user block? One thing to notice is also that Wikipedia blocking system is not a court: admins are not prosecutors and jury together and any user can be banned indefinitely without further warning if it is believed he is a sockpuppet or a long-term abuser. This is a block within the W:HE:ויקיפדיה:פרשת הטיית הצבעות ודיונים 2024, which was carried out by the bureaucrats. @גארפילד@ביקורת, for your information. Neriah - 💬 - 09:21, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There's no such thing as "Wikipedia Israel". نوفاك اتشمان (talk) 13:35, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
He probably meant, and I think it's apparent to all, that the project is meant to be the Hebrew Wikipedia. A09|(pogovor) 15:21, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@نوفاك اتشمان: Give them the benefit of the doubt – not everyone here is fluent in English. --SHB2000 (tc) 00:29, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I don't think that this confusion stems from the language barrier, but rather from the common misconception that Wikipedia's language editions actually represent specific countries - for example, some people may think of the English Wikipedia as "Wikipedia America". :-) نوفاك اتشمان (talk) 06:17, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I concur. AFAIK There are more Hebrew users outside of Israel Benderbr (talk) 02:49, 9 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
