From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
  • medical device rep
  • surgeries, coffee shop, or here. filler time to check up on emails.

technology

[edit]
  • check both my blackberry and ipad all the time. i'm never without my blackberry.
  • blackberry - notes, scheduling - prefer the tactile feedback of my blackberry than an ipad - reply to work emails. web browsing, anything quick where i don't need visual or i'm gonna be scrolling a ton.
  • ipad - shopping, news (huffpo, chronicle, nytimes), personal email (i never reply, reply when i get home), facebook (picture quality and loads quicker), games, company marketing material. show video for work, once a day - sales pitch. used to use itouch. learning about new procedures, body parts - all of my medical questions on the ipad.
  • google search - multiple safari windows - icons for each page to go back and forth.
  • i can pretty much do anything on my bb that i can on my ipad. but there are certain things i prefer.
  • bb - calendar - don't want to synch it. only want it one place. quick work email.
  • computer - spreadsheet, documents, itunes, music, movies, personal email, email attachments. desk/bed/coffeeshop. personal photos, music.
  • boot it up, and set up - not worth it for just 15 or 20 minutes.

wikipedia

[edit]
  • long content - scanning. goes straight to wikipedia - "it's better than a random google search"
  • load time on blackberry. formatted content - too much scrolling, small screen.
  • can't play certain videos, attachments, esignatures,
  • doesn't look at the left column - create an account...."to post".
  • discussion page - this is busy. aesthetically it's....yeah, i can't even process this. i'm out of here.

activities

[edit]
  • commenting on blogs. limited to less than a sentence.
  • facebook came on my phone. when my work gave it to me it was on it.
  • friendly app on the ipad. wiggy.....just use facebook in the browser. keeps email and facebook always open in the browser windows.
  • txt or email photos. take photos all the time - between coworkers.
  • cooking blogs - not as visually consistent.
  • don't really contribute to a lot of things online. time, don't have the attention span or the patience. 10 things at once.
  • yelp reviews, cooking. worst experience or best experience ever. OR if it's someone that i know - trying to boost their thing. down time, when i'm just messing around.
  • just rather type it in. i like knowing what i know.
  • news apps - went to the site and they asked me. probably wouldn't have otherwise. i've never paid for an app.
  • padmapper was recommended from friends.
  • merriam webster dictionary. also co-worker recommendation.
  • no discovery on apps.
  • "all that i do is click one button and type the word". it's simpler.

apps

[edit]
  • knockoffs. i just want basic. not sure if it's real thing.
  • easier to navigate. visually appealing.
