Research:Mobile Strategy Research/USA/Notes/100402

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
  • i'm at the hotel part time. reports on products the other part of the time. could be anywhere in chicago.
  • i used wikipedia to do reports on musicians - wikipedia breaks down everything. whoever is writing, the information is so informative
  • if i'm buying something at best buy, hp product - company, launch, compare to others. consumer research.
  • hp pad - no one was interested in it, galaxy and so many other tablets.
  • all the screens up - word, google, wikipedia, best buy

devices[edit]

  • my smartphone is attached to me. if i go to one place i'd bring my tab too, but if i'm out and about i've got my phone
  • stopping and doing the tab is hard. the smartphone comes in handy, even if the print is smaller,
  • netbook, small, lightweight (like this), but liked the laptop better - more gigabytes. good to go on the internet. the print is so small too. you tube was much harder. can't watch a dvd. you could build it and attach it but i'm not going to do that.
  • hp - i'm able to go on youtube. i can watch movies. i purchased the keyboard. more convenient to type, faster. picking up the tablet (makes gesture of two finger typing). screen is much larger on a laptop and i can multitask there.
  • all devices - check gmail/yahoo accounts
  • phone: quick researchers, weather, youtube/radio rarely because it drains the battery, small fonts for much reader
  • tablet: check email, research, youtube
  • computer: scans, downloads.
  • information sources: wikipedia, IMDB, i don't have time to look at beyonce's website.
  • wikipedia is the first thing i'm going to go to. it gives you more of a synopsis on the person. it breaks everything down.
  • lg optimus5 but keeps a feature phone in case the battery dies.
  • sometimes searches on mobile, computer you have to wait for it to boot up.

wikipedia[edit]

  • information. that's the relationship. whoever is writing it is doing a very good job. when we were kids we all used an encyclopedia or for a project. no one cracks open a book anymore. different cities, biographies - valuable, it benefits everyone as a whole.
  • i'm not a college professor.....i've noticed that there are updates or corrections. for example they discovered that princess diana had depression
  • wikipedia - experts political science, historians.....really experts. contracted by wikipedia.
  • the help - shows in google results. after considering IMDB. references - people are taking the time and looking it up - not just writing it in.
  • search her name wrong - if you don't spell it close to what it is, wikipedia won't know what that is.
  • noticed that one day the # copies sold will be updated.
  • left nav - i don't even see that. uses internal links,
  • wikipedia does give you that update. and more information
  • photos - don't care.
  • no account. accounts - identify theft. employers search. had a youtube account.

other sites[edit]

  • consumer feedback. commented. opinions do matter. i don't put my real name. i responded to vh1 or bet....i'm kind of skeptical of who is the hacker behind that and maybe they could get your pin number and email. i put one picture on facebook but i don't do that. i'm careful of what i upload to the internet. but i send pictures through the smartphone.

wikipedia mobile[edit]

  • since these are smartphone, i don't know how we're going to make it larger.
  • PARTNERSHIPS: google - wikipedia subpage search

app[edit]

  • already on the phone. that was a good thing they were just there.
  • college edition kindle or made it suitable to have a wp/wp app on a kindle

follow up question[edit]

  • work blocks you
  • your plan / verizon is begging me to come back.
  • cell phone before this - basic phone. email....check and send.
  • how to choose when the battery goes off and on - mostly related to ability to take and make calls.
  • start using wikipedia
