Analysis

[edit]

The following plots represent the activation rate for cohorts of monthly registered users on the English Wikipedia since 2007.[1] We compute how many new registered users reach a specified level of activity in the main namespace (1, 5, 10, 100 edits) within 30 days of registering a new account.

Activation of new registered users by month of registration (absolute number).
Activation of new registered users by month of registration (proportion).

This plot compares the e5 and e10 series above with monthly New Wikipedians (based on the canonical definition).

Activation of new registered users by month of registration compared to New Wikipedians (absolute number).

Notes

[edit]
  1. We limit our analysis to users registered after 2007 because of inconsistencies in the logging table with 2005-2006 data.
