One day Wiki awarness progremme cum workshops at Lakhimpur Girls' College, Lakhimpur, Assam

Scope

• Encourage students to take part in various Wiki projects.
• Empowering students to gain new skills and build confidence to work in regional language Wiki projects.

Goals

1. At least 20 students will create accounts on Assamese Wikipedia
2. At least 10 active editors will join on various Assamese Wiki projects

Report

On 9th April,2024 an Awareness cum Workshop of Assamese Wikimedia was held at Lakhimpur Girls' Collage auditorium under the banner of She Leads of Center for Internet and Society Access To Knowledge. The moto of this meeting was to publish about the Projects of Assamese Wikimedia and inclusion of more and more female contributors to these activities. Because, as a whole, number of female contributors in Assamese Wikimedians are very less. Wikimedian Rumi Borah and Jyoti Chiring arrange the meeting with full co operation of Assamese Department of the collage. More than fifty participants were present and the Workshop was successful one. Nayan Jyoti Nath a active Assamese Wikimedian took part in the workshop as a resource person and trained the participants how to work in the Assamese Wikipedia and in its sister projects such as wikisource, wikiquote, wikicommons etc. Dr. Surjit Bhunya, the Principal of Lakhimpur Girls' Collage, in his speech explains about the importance of Assamese Wikipedia. Besides this, Kusumbar Chetia, Professor of Assamese Department narrated very nicely about the workshop and advised the participants to join and provide active participation to this worldwide intellectual Movement.
