Strategy/Wikimedia movement/2017/Sources/Drafting/Italian Wikipedia

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Information

[edit]
  • Discussion coordinators summarize and submit local feedback to the draft via the summary skeleton.
  • If a point is "above the bar" (priority 1) - strong sentiment by the local community that something absolutely needs to change, be removed or added - then the coordinator also adds comments to the talk page on Meta as well while referencing the sources statement - do this on an ongoing basis.
Sections
  • A - Direction: The future we imagine (green box).
  • B - Remaining sections: Reasoning, Implications.

Summary

[edit]
Section Priority Summary Statement Overall sentiment Keyword or phrase
A 1 The text is sometimes unclear, bureaucratic and conceited. It lacks synthesis. (Ettorre in private WMI-ML) concern language
A/B 1 The draft looks like a millstone. It's not very inviting to read. (Alexmar983) concern language
B 1 The committment to "include other forms of free knowledge, [and to] aim for these projects to be as successful as Wikipedia" is significant. It is important it is realized. (Pegasovagante) supportive sister projects
B 1 The words "Wikipedia" and "enyclopedia" do not appear so often in the text. In this sense the language used is politically correct (Pegasovagante) supportive sister projects
B 2 Aiming for the sister projects "to be as successful as Wikipedia" is big talk. (Alexmar983) concern sister projects
B 2 Wikipedia wasn't born as a repository for knowledge. It was born as a repository for sourced information. (Ilario) neutral knowledge/information
B 2 The future of sister projects will be based on more inter-projects initiatives. (Mizardellorsa) neutral sister projects
B 2 Knowledge is more than information. Knowledge is a network of information. A "knowledge base" contains information that is useful for doing something. Knowledge becomes wisdom if it helps avoid doing errors. Wikipedia articles usually provide just information, but they can provide knowledge and wisdom through portals and talk pages, respectively. (Ilario) neutral knowledge/information
A/B 2 It is impossibile to read everything. (Geoide) concern language
