Summary[edit]

Summary for the discussion:

Line Statement (summary sentence) Keywords
One of the primary issues for us right now is language and grammar. Wikipedia's content is growing drastically, but little is being done to maintain its quality. The most effective approach to deal with this would be to hire language specialists to revise Wikipedia articles. Hiring, grammar
Hiring does not work. Abu Ghazaleh, a Jordanian businessman, have previously tried to hire paid writers to create a site which would compete with Wikipedia, and failed miserably. Hiring
It is also quite costly, a single page might be charged for as much as forty to fifty dollars. Spending
It might be a good idea because of the massive amount of low quality content being produced by Education Program's students, as they make very long but poorly written articles. Wikipedia Education Program
In Wikimedia Conference in Berlin, some new financial resources where proposed and discussed. They might help to fund such a project. Berlin, funding
A possible solution would be to develop automatic grammar correction software. We could use the help of one being made by some Jordanian university students. Software
The AutowikiBrowser also offers the feature if grammar-check, but in a much machine like ineffective manner. AutoWikiBrowser
We might be able to use the help of the Education Program to deal with this, by cooperating with language departments in the active universities. Wikipedia Education Program
In that case, each professor involved in the Program should also be in charge of revising articles created by their students and making sure they are well written. Wikipedia Education Program
Science related articles should be a focus of language revising, since their content is of high importance but could be misunderstood because of language. Science
We could make groups specialized in revising articles according to their subject, so they get rewritten by able hands. Review
People in charge of reviewing Wikipedia articles should be trustworthy, as in language specialists or academic researchers. Academics
Since we do not ask for particularly trusted people to create Wikipedia's content, we should not need such people to review it. Content, review, volunteering
Wikipedia's trust is gained by the large number of people who participate in building it, rather than their individual knowledge or expertise. Content, review, volunteering
