Swiss Performing Arts Projects

Organised as part of the partnership between the SAPA Foundation, Swiss Archive of the Performing Arts (Q50920401) and Wikimedia CH (Q15279140), the project aims to make information and documents on the Swiss performing arts available in Wikimedia projects.
Particular emphasis will be placed on reducing the gender bias in this information.
For the purposes of this project, the following areas are considered to be part of the Swiss performing arts: theatre, dance, opera, cabaret, puppetry, circus...
The project will be carried out in the three official Swiss languages (French, German and Italian).
The project is designed to be carried out over the long term, with regular:
- writing workshops in the Wikipedia encyclopedia;
- uploading images to the Wikimedia Commons media library;
- data uploads to Wikidata.

This project have the scope to improve the documentation about performing arts's production in Switzerland, through the import of data and pictures to the Wikimedia Projects.

This project collect portraits of swiss personnalities from performing arts domain.

Editathons
SAPA and Wikimedia CH organized in 2024/beginning of 2025 three Wikipedia Editathons. One in each language region. The main goal was to create and/or improve the content on Wikipedia around the Swiss performing arts and artists, with a particular focus on women. Participants worked on pages related to people, groups, associations, companies (theater, danse), venues, productions and plays.
