Enriching African history and culture pages

Dear African Wikipedians, I’m reaching out to share an exciting idea and proposal for enriching African history and culture pages on Wikipedia. I am exploring and inquiring on African artifacts as a source of historical narrative and symbolic knowledge, and the potential for comparative analysis of Africa’s material heritage as a path to deeper cultural understanding.

In this regard, I’ve built an index of African artifacts via online museum archives. I’ve also been working on software tools that enable such comparative analysis. The goal of this effort is to surface the material heritage stored in these museums to a wider audience online, giving more of a sense of ownership digitally (even in advance of physical repatriation), and to later do comparative analysis to understand the cultural and material histories embedded within these artifacts, altogether expanding the public corpus of knowledge on African antiquity.

At this juncture, I was led to Wikipedia pages on African cultures as a site to bring visibility into this heritage, and through the Rapid Fund application process, have come across this community as a group committed to the same ideals.
