No community consensus[edit]

I am failing to see community consensus for that. Especially required when it intends to increase the number of article editing. Our local community has done editing contests in the past and had a terrible experience. Instead of improving the quality of articles, a previous contest was the reason of an increasing on the edits we had to review. That led to many protected pages and blocked users.

It was asked on local discussion how to avoid such problems, but that was answered with irony. We have already too much edits to review and not always are able to deal with all of them. Any interference on that should he done with enough care.

I suggest to withdraw with the part of proposal that is related with article editing but keep with the photograph contest. Regards.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 17:55, 25 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments and concerns. That proposal was opened on pt.wiki in February and receveid more support than opositions until now. We will decide it based on the community feedback and more discussions on pt.wiki and number of volunteers interested to help us. There are many open possibilities do discuss before withdraw any initiative Rodrigo Padula (talk) 03:31, 26 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, that is partially correct as supporters could barely mention the editing part of the contest and oppositions are starting to appear. Users were okay with creating the photo contest, but nobody was clear about the editing part of it and there is nothing defined regarding how to deal with the increase of workload we usually see on those contests. We already had a contest in Portuguese Wikipedia and we had an awful experience on that in which many users added copyvio content just to leave the impression of a large content was added and gather points to become the winner and made many other incorrect edits. These contents had to be removed afterwards by reviewers, that clearly asked to avoid creating such contests. So, not only there is no local approval for the editing part of the contest, but there is also a request from some reviewers to not create that unless there is a good plan to circumvent this problem, and we are too far from any kind of solution on that.—Teles «Talk to me ˱C L @ S˲» 16:10, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Since there is no consensus and we have a lot of other important projects confirmed for the next months, for sure the planning and support of an editing contest could add a lot of extra work for our user group. So we decided to organize only the photo contest right now, including some edit-a-thons and taks forces to improve the use of the content uplodaded during the olympics. So, we are moving with the original idea of having only the photo contest, regards! Rodrigo Padula (talk) 16:34, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
