Talk:Community Wishlist Survey 2022/Larger suggestions/1%

Alternative wording[edit]

  • Problem: There often exists a gap between the wishes of the community and the foundation. The proposal is simple, double the funding to the Community Tech team. The WMF fundraising has increased rapidly, but little of this money has found its way to improving technical community support. A doubling of the funding would do justice to the volunteer effort involved in the community wishlist, and strengthen the relationship between the foundation and the communities. The small current budget makes the Community Tech team vulnerable to losing one or two developers. A larger team can not only deliver more to the community, but will also be able to deliver under difficult circumstances. The small size of the Team also prevents it from taking on slightly bigger projects the community could really use.
  • Who would benefit: All the community and volunteers, who would finally get the technical support they've been craving for years.
  • Proposed solution: Double the funding to the community tech team.
