Just a note about the page title: There is no majority Wikipedia anymore so how can minority ones be separate from the others? Wouldn't "Wikipedia's with fewer than 1000 articles" be more accurate? --Maveric149 02:35, 16 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Hey, I resemble that remark. IMO any wikipedia with under 5000 can certainly be "small" for the purposes of this page, if they themselves think so. It is largely a matter of perception, I think. Whether those pedias which have reached critical mass do so at 500 or 5000, I think the issues are common though different. It is only when the critical mass is reached that their problems are no longer primarily about reaching that critical mass, and more about managing the continuing growth. That is my two eurocents anyway. -- Cimon Avaro on a pogo stick 15:44, 19 Nov 2003 (UTC)
My comment was made before this page was moved from Current issues/Minority Wikipedias. I think the current name of this page is better than my suggested example. --mav

I (Yosri) do not dispute the mutual intelligibility of the languages but wish to point out that there are difference in existing words, and the rate of adopting new words (English) in Malay and Indonesian language. As the target market is student, (who tend to use free thing :) ), this can and will confuse the student in term of spelling and grammer. This turn will lead to them (student) be discourage by their teacher from using wikipedia.

By cross referance, those student will be aware that there are difference in Malay and Indonesian language, and at the same time be able to understand the gist of the other language article, if they really required it, without getting confuse over word and grammar ussage.

In addition, it is much easier to translate vice versa between Malay and Indonesian.

Sorry for my poor choice of words, Yosri. I did not mean to misrepresent your position. Kowey 15:49, 18 Nov 2003 (UTC)
