committee roles and wikimania[edit]

I'd suggest that the committee, probably working with the communications committee, also serve as a kind of a clearinghouse for information both on how to run an event and on what has been done in the past. The events committee should also be a good place to come for people working on events who have questions about how to interface with the Foundation (e.g. for money, etc).

We should probably clarify the role of the committee re: wikimania, however. Will the committee supervise the bid jury? Serve as the bid jury? I think probably the best plan would be to have the committee members be the standing bid jury (and oversee the actual bid process, such as when bids are due by, what information needs to be included, etc), but pull in some new representative outsiders to help with the judging every year so as not to be too cabalistic. -- phoebe 21:05, 19 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
