Organisations vs buildings[edit]

@Alicia Fagerving (WMSE): Hello Alicia and thanks for your work on this page and on this project generally. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that if something is a museum (Q33506), it should not have coordinate location (P625) or located in the administrative territorial entity (P131). These properties would better be suited for items which are instances of museum building (Q24699794). Similar items are available for other types of cultural buildings. Your project has a potential to make this distinction crystal clear and I'd like to ask you to consider that change. I am pinging @Tacsipacsi and Multichill: who have recently discussed this at d:Talk:Q33506 but I am sure there are many more discussions like that happening on Wikidata almost weekly. --Vojtěch Dostál (talk) 06:59, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Modeling organization hierarchies[edit]

@Alicia Fagerving (WMSE): We were working on adding some GLAM institutions to Wikidata during the month of October and questions came up about whether to use part of (P361) or parent organization (P749) when describing relationships between libraries and their academic institutions and branch libraries and library systems. I'm wondering how the decision was made to use part of (P361) instead of parent organization (P749) as I've seen both properties used to model these types of relationships. --Chicagohil (talk) 00:44, 21 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
