some updates[edit]

Prefer the most common use characters than the original version. Also, a few sentence still need to update. Sum of human knowledge = 知識總和？全部知識？knowledge gap = 知識大坑 ?

Update needed - not completely clear :

  • 當一個細路得到部手提電腦，
  • 維基百科好快咁出現過
  • 成部維基百科，抄咗落一間
  • 上唔到網嘅班房部機度。
  • 如果我哋有知識，識得點用佢，
  • 咁條坑就會填咗

知識總和 / 全部知識[edit]

  • The totality is greater than the collection of the individual parts. I prefer 總和.


  • If 哋 is more common in the street than 地, please use it.


gap[edit]

  • Gap - think of a big crack on the ground, such as the one at tate modern [1]. Knowledge gap is probably his invention, and of course xxx"gap" came from the cold war. What is its most accurate Cantonese representation? A gap is a barrier that is difficult to traverse...

坑 is often a problem, objectively, and is solved by filling it, in people's imaginations. 鴻溝 may be too big, and with much feeling injected.

Gap - 罅 could be okay, but could be too small. FUNG could be too small too. Hung Gwick may be... 坑 is not a bad idea

exposed ->"畀啲細路睇到啲" - lacks the connotation. Somehow expose=暴露 is between 接觸 and 浸淫。 Don't know what is the most faithful. Hillgentleman 14:20, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]


This 畀啲細路睇到啲 should work but at least people understand. I think it still could be better. E.g. The parents kick the kid out to expose him to a real world. Expose here is "to see". expose the kid to knowledge - let them see what knowledge... I really don't know which is the best. 浸淫 = emerge 接觸 = have contact with. Sorry, I really don't know...
