Explain for my translation[edit]

To User:Mxn: I saw you delete the phrase "hỗ trợ" from "Wikipedia do Quỹ hỗ trợ Wikipedia, một công ty từ thiện theo điều luật trừ thuế 501(c)(3) có trụ sở tại San Francisco, California, hỗ trợ." sentence. I want to clarify that the syntax of this sentence is "Wikipedia do Quỹ hỗ trợ Wikipedia, một công ty từ thiện theo điều luật trừ thuế 501(c)(3) có trụ sở tại San Francisco, California, hỗ trợ", you know, a subordinate clause. I tried to omit passive voice, because in Vietnamese you can't use passive voice like English, ex. "Tôi bị đánh bởi anh ta", but "Tôi bị anh ta đánh". Vinhtantran 03:36, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, okay. The appositive (một công ty từ thiện theo điều luật trừ thuế 501(c)(3) có trụ sở tại San Francisco, California) was so long I got lost. :^) How about en-dashes? – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 19:13, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Uhum, en-dashes would be better. Do it, Minh. Vinhtantran 19:16, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

But when "hỗ trợ" comes too far at the end of the sentence after a looong appositive, it sounds not as smooth as when we use passive voice.Tmct 09:54, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I must agree with this. I will change it to passive now. Vinhtantran 11:07, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Slogan or not?[edit]

Sentence 5. Wikipedia: Make Life Easier. I really think that this is one of the official slogan in WMF (I saw another sentence that say "How did Wikipedia make your life easier?". User:Viethavvh translated it into Vietnamese that means "Wikipedia: Make Life Easier and More Interesting". I'd like to hear from Fundraising group about this edition. "Wikipedia: Making Life Easier" means that what Wikipedia is doing for people is making their lives easier. I'll try to get Erik to leave a message here too. Cbrown1023 talk 01:01, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
