From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

This model is predicated on the idea of students creating new articles in sandboxes and then moving them to mainspace after review by their professors. That might well be OK in many of the languages where Wikipedia is in its infancy, but the English Wikipedia has 3.9 million articles, the need on EN wiki is mainly to expand existing articles rather than add new ones. That doesn't involve Sandboxes, and it involves a very different skill - collaborative editing. I suggest we get students to show their professors the changes that they propose to make to an article, or indeed the changes that they have made. WereSpielChequers 02:06, 7 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
