Talk:Metapedianism

And not one of them have started a discussion here. Irony eh? :p TrianaC 12:45, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am curious about the lack on the list of metapedianisms of nonmetapedianism. A non-metapedian, of course, is a member of the category of those who strictly avoid those behaviours that would mark him or her as a metapedian. 208.100.248.126 05:37, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a bit concerned about the use of the word "gadfly", as that seems to imply that metapedians are non-productive members of the community. I would argue that they can contribute to the well-being of the community, and in doing so, contribute to the end goals of the various wikimedia projects. 65.96.163.212 04:35, 16 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalize your shortcuts, idiots.--72.184.201.3 03:30, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed that the term "gadfly" seems to, at least in this context; imply something negative. I would also agree that contributing to the community will, by result advance the community. What is Wikimedia, if not a community? And to the comment directly above this one. I am completely positive that you could make your point without questioning the intelligence of fellow wikimedian. That comment is also a fine example of irony, seeing as it is attached to a page about a philsophy, which would in essence strive to mediate the users of wikimedia. What about the "upset the status quo by posing upsetting or novel questions, or attempt to stimulate innovation by proving an irritant" aspects? Should be included, in my opinion. Kncyu38 01:23, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The term gadfly in this context is used to describe these individuals as ones whose actions incite discussion and development. It should not be taken as an offensive term.
What aspect of the characterisation "[gadflies] upset the status quo by posing upsetting or novel questions, or attempt to stimulate innovation by proving an irritant" do you find offensive? Kncyu38 22:31, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed changes for article names[edit]

There is a proposal to change the names of some articles, which affects this article, at Talk:Exopedianism#Proposed changes for article names. --Geronimo20 02:12, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What is the difference between being a metapedian and being not here to build an encyclopedia?[edit]
