Acronym suggestion

Is this OK here?

If there are newbie paths to a page, as there are to this one, could acronyms please be accompanied by short descriptions? Perhaps conventionally a small table of descriptions for key terms and acronyms would be in order. I think it would often be easy to do and provide a better experience for the reader.

For example, What is the meaning of OTRS??

translations

Are there also translations of this page availeble? People are asking about what OTRS is all the time :P So if it's oke, I'll make a Dutch translation in a few days. Should I put it on Meta or on nl.wp? (if it doesn't exist yet) Effeietsanders 12:16, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Meta might make more sense since OTRS is not just for Wikipedia, so you want the page aimed at Wikimedians and people from all Dutch language projects. Angela 19:42, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
Ok :) I take this as a "no objection for translation" ;-) I'll put then the lists of users etc in templates, so that the translation doesn't have to be updated all the time... Mailing list

I think it's got to the point where we need a mailing list to aid communication between OTRS team members. Any thoughts? -- sannse 17:02, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

I do agree.
Normally I am for transparency and openess, but since many legal problems are involved in this discussions, probably a closed one will be needed :-( Fantasy 17:10, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

I would argue no. I never quite understood why the OTRS page was called PR Department in the first place. OTRS is more of a helpdesk and customer service. It borders on legal, and sometimes also on PR, but the people who are answering OTRS questions are in no way the people who should be discussing PR issues and press releases. We do have a mailing list, OTRS-en-l, but right now it's mostly announcements and reminders. Almost all "who's on foo queue" and "which queue for ticket #bar" discussion takes place on the #wikimedia-otrs channel. - jredmond 14:28, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for information. I am not involved into info-en and want a bit different what you showed me. Also I access to IRC not so often, IRC channel is helpful not always. I want a mailinglist all OTRS staff subscribe; some tickets on my queue seems inappropriate from my eyes and most of them were sent to info-en-xx but not all ... and I don't think I need to know all about info-en issues. However I would like to discuss/inform/be informed with other OTRS personnels and mailinglist would be better than talk page, I guess. --Aphaia 04:54, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Permission tickets

At the Commons, there's an image tag, Commons:Template:ConfirmationOTRS, which says that "Permission has been received from the copyright holder ... and evidence of this has been lodged with the Wikimedia Communications committee", and refers to OTRS ticket numbers.

The problem is that there's no way to verify these permission claims. For example, Image:Cratère de Derveni 0052.jpg refers to ticket number 2006022410005908.

Could we please have a publicly-accessible interface to the OTRS "permissions" queue? Thanks, Dbenbenn 07:10, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

I agree that this is a problem for Commons. At the moment people have all variety of dodgy methods for showing their "permission" (user sub/talk pages, category talk pages... nothing). If there was a verifiable system, Commons admins could encourage more people to use the proper system. pfctdayelise 09:01, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
The publicly accessible interface to the permissions queue is the list of people with accounts. Honest. Ask one of us to verify a ticket and we will search the queue and verify this, but it is infeasible to make it generally accessible. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 06:12, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

A template on Commons with parameters for "copyright holder" and "ticket number" could do it. BTW, check OTRS/personnel (which should be being filled out soon) to find out who is capable of doing what... Alphax 10:09, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Just a "Me too" for all of the above. I understand that not all content in the tickets can be made public, but surely it would be possible to allow the public to check eg. the ticket number, the source URL in question and the present status? Eg. I could punch in "2007073010019265", and it would then tell me that this concerns heyaosun.com and that permission has been granted/a copyvio has been removed as requested/etc. en:User:Jpatokal 125.225.111.96 13:54, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Queue for archiving abuse related mails

I think that the correspondence with abuse desks and providers in case of spam and TOS violations should be kept somewhere. Any cue? --M/ 22:34, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Other languages.

Is moving tickets with unknown languages, or languages we don't have queses for, to info@ okay, or does it have a better chance staying in info-en?

How about moving to queues where it may be understood: pt to es, dk to no, @.za to nl?

Queue for el.wikipedia

I've been in contact with notafish for creating info-el and permissions-el queues for the greek wikipedia. I've sent her an e-mail with real names and e-mails to start the queue but we wait for more than 10 days (probably she is busy). Permissions queue

While testing the system, I try to forward some older e-mails to permissions queue but I don't see them anywhere. I sent four e-mails to permissions@wikimedia.org yesterday, but I still don't see them in permissions-el. Are they in permissions queue just waiting for some agent to move them to subqueue or lost completely? If the delay is so big, we'll need to use the info-el address instead. --Geraki 10:41, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
