Talk:Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Zhuang Wikipedia

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Are you sure "that most, if not all native speakers cannot access this Wikipedia due to the Great Firewall, and judging from the current political situation in the PRC, it's highly unlikely the ban will be lifted in the near future." <-- Are your sure? What I have heard is that nowadays GFW blocks only the zh: wikipedia. Hillgentleman 21:34, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think Zhuang Wikipedia is still blocked, but manually (note the Wikia's activity suddenly stagnating). -- Prince Kassad 13:55, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've added a source, go and read it. -- Prince Kassad 16:40, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • You source [1] is no better than rumour. The comment poster is not even sure about this himself(可是,不知道是因為偉大的防火牆問題還是其他原因,這個百科現時卻被丟空了,淪為廣告商或無知小兒的發泄地...... :-() And who is he? Wikipedian Tomchiukc, who is not behind the GFW. To complete the w:self-reference, your "source" even cites this very page Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Zhuang Wikipedia! Um, if you would read further than just the first post, you would see multiple people confirming that Zhuang Wikipedia is filtered. -- Prince Kassad 14:07, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • That is true. We can take that. However, GFW is changing all the time. The reports were in early June, and, since this summer, we have also heard reports of relaxation of the GFW, and many wikimedia projects, such as zh-yue: (and, if I remember correctly, en:) were not blocked; and even zh: is sometimes unblocked. Even to this day, the zh: site is not completely blocked (see the history ofzh:Wikipedia talk:狀況回報). It would be great if you have the current data and specific report to support your comment, that the zhuang: wikipedia is still blocked, but manually.
