Talk:WikiConference India 2016/Submissions/Punjabi Language Processing

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

@Vishal.wikimedia: The proposal is unclear as of now. What tools are we talking about? Are these tools available in open source? How are these tools important for Wikipedians and how are these tools going to impact the contributions of Punjabi Wikipedia projects? --Satdeep Gill (talk) 04:17, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Satdeep Gill: I will be talking about the tools developed for Punjabi Language Processing at Punjabi University Patiala. These tools are not open source. But the tools developed by me can be integrated with Wikipedia projects if they can be of any use. We have Transliteration Projects, translation projects, project on ISL converter for deaf and dumb etc. that can be correlate with wikipedia projects. Whatever maximum we can integrate we can go ahead. Moreover, We are trying to develop English to Punjabi MT System and reverse which will be ready by next 1 or 1.5 years. That can also be used over here. We have also completed Urdu to Punjabi MT System, reverse we have started. Thus, we can sit and discuss about collaborations for working together. We have number of M.Tech. students, we can think of projects that can be beneficial for Wikipedia, thus in collaboration, we can go ahead.-- Vishal.wikimedia (talk) --Vishal.wikimedia (talk) 16:20, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Vishal.wikimedia: Just wanted to clarify that Wikimedia projects can only use these tools if they are released in open source licenses or other appropriate reusable licenses. We are in talks with Punjabi University, Patiala and might collaborate if everything goes right.--Satdeep Gill (talk) 07:59, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
