Wiktionary[edit]

http://wiktionaryz.org: WiktionaryZ is a new multilingual version of Wiktionary. It runs on an extension of MediaWiki. All lemmas in all languages are together in one namespace. E.g. boot contains three sections, each covering one concept, because the word has a meaning in three languages. The coverage of a concept is multilingual, therefore it is reused as a section on various other lemmas, e.g. one section of the mentioned page is reused as a section of boat (the English translation for one meaning), another as a section of Kofferraum (the German translation for another meaning), etc. Like in the case that a template is used for a common section, an edit from one of the pages including the common part, is effective on each copy. An additional feature is that the header of each section is automatically the description of the concept in the user's language of preference. All Wiktionaries would be in ONE database.

What is the difference?

Wiktionary is not one project. There are at this stage 171 separate projects.
Wikiwords is an environment created by Proz. It is an environment where translators work on their collections in a joined environment making the total more than the sum of the parts.
Wikidictionary is a proposal for a project. Nothing is happening in this space.
WiktionaryZ is an environment that is developed to contain all the different types of information that can be held in the Wiktionary projects. As a consequence it is a relational environment extended to include lexicological, terminological and ontological data. WiktionaryZ is currently in a pre-alpha stage.
