This page about the fare to Taipei is wrong.--theodoranian 17:11, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the intention and thank you for the work, it would be really helpful if the comparison is carefully done to yield reliable conclusions. However, I would like to point out two fundamental pitfalls and request for corrections.
First, the method is systematically biased. To compare international flight cost fairly, we do not use the "same resource" (for example, expedia.com) for all destinations. Expedia.com may be a good source for cheap tickets in Europe or North America or between Europe and North America, but from my very own experience, it is not useful for Asian flights. We have an extensive network of travel agencies, and there are also websites that provide good prices on tickets. Some of them are http://www.zuji.com.hk/, http://travel.yahoo.com/, and http://www.flychina.com/.
Also, the page attempts to discuss information that cannot be representatively obtained yet, as it is too early to check prices for flights to Asia in August 2007. Typical prices are simply not available until about 6 to 3 months ahead. The prices listed on this page is way much much higher than reality prices that most people would actually end up paying.
Because of these two fundamental pitfalls, I think that the current information on this page is misleading, and I request that either the prices for TPE be removed, or prices listed on Wikimania 2007/Taipei# Estimation of travel costs be used. Thank you very much. --roc (talk) 17:49, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

*** Warning!!! This sort of information gets dated very rapidly, especially with the recent large $US/£ exchange rate fluctuations.--Poetlister 14:13, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
