Incorporation[edit]

I was a little confused about the difference between Friendly Societies and Industrial & Provident Societies and Jon cleared this up for me (and the group no doubt). See Industrial & Provident Societies FAQs. Note also that the consensus is to set up a company limited by guarantee and then apply for charity status. Aims[edit]

The aims of the charity could be as simple as "Creative Commons International Limited" which became a charity on 5th Oct 2005

THE CHARITY'S OBJECTS (THE OBJECTS) ARE INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, 
FACILITATING THE SHARING OF SCIENTIFIC, CREATIVE AND OTHER INTELLECTUAL
WORKS BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

Area of Operation Charity Operates inside and outside England and Wales
