Hmm, $10k seems like skinning it a bit close. Is there any reason not to do a fund drive sooner, in order to build more of a buffer and to pay for more hardware that we will soon need, instead of waiting until it is too late? The fund drive raised money so successfully, I think it shows people are more than willing to support what we are building. - Taxman 04:49, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)

there are no special reasons. It is very likely there will be a fund drive early 2005, and it would be a good idea to look for a bit more creative ideas for the fundraising. We will definitly need fresh money soon. If you have some specific ideas, please participate :-) Anthere
Well I'm not the creative type, but the way the last one was done seems like it would be very successful again, at a minimum. What I was getting at is why not do it now? and not wait for 05 to do it. I also like the idea of opt in google Adsense ads, some of the numbers that shows are pretty promising. At the least it is a way for people that are cash poor to contribute. - Taxman 16:39, 2 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Its like terror alerts; if it is always code:red, people start ignoring it. Even doing fundraising 4 times a year might become problimatic. No,i think we sould wait, as long as we can (and not a moment longer) before we do the next fundraiser. As for creative ideas, how about the worlds largest distributed cake sale? Pick a date, and then see how many wikimedians you can get out onto the street selling muffins and cupcakes (and distributing info, and possibly wikireaders)....
Well you did ask for CREATIVE suggestions. The bellman 10:50, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Good point, but I guess we should at least make the next fundraiser and little larger. 80k maybe. - Taxman 19:33, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)
