Translation[edit]

Hi there. Is there any translation of the wikizine ? is it possible to set up one ? I would be interested to translate it into French. le Korrigan bla 13:06, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I know it is translated in Dutch as well. ([1]) So it is possible I guess? :P Effeietsanders 17:10, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you[edit]

Just wanted to say thank-you to anyone who works on wikizine. I find it very useful. user:Bawolff (not loged in) 18:57, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks from me too! -- Nichtich 12:22, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

For those of you active on the English Wikipedia, the Wikipedia Signpost also offers a weekly issue with an in-depth look at the week's news. Of course, we are more focused on issues regarding the English Wikipedia. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 00:59, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Anno Domini[edit]

Would it be a problem to remove the phrase "Anno Domini" from the Wikizine? It is a religious statement. - Amgine / talk meta 00:30, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, it would not be a problem. It was only spielerei for that issue. I was all ready waiting to see of there would come reaction about this. --Walter 08:51, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, for those of us not opposed to others religiousity but also not supportive of any one religion over other spiritualities. - Amgine / talk meta 06:51, 6 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Commons[edit]

There have recently been serious problems with some local projects and commons, maybe wikizine would be the ideal place to follow Commons a bit, so that important news from Commons manages to reach ppl that are interested in things apart from their own wiki?

Mozilla Corporation decides against adding Wikipedia to Firefox search box[edit]

Bug 269198, Add Wikipedia to the set of default search engines (using relevant language), marked as WONTFIX. The reason cited is that Answers.com already includes Wikipedia results. I wonder how much Answers.com pays them? Firefox has always had a bookmark keyword for Wikipedia though. --Pmsyyz 06:34, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this news. That is a stupid reason. Google already includes the Answers.com results so Answers.com could also be removed. --Walter 07:10, 3 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Strategy to reduce image vandalism[edit]

Hello,

I believe many WM projects are not aware of the existence and use of MediaWiki:Bad image list. Any image listed there will not show up inline in articles - it will be automatically reduced to a text link. Local project administrators should maintain this page in order to reduce repeat image vandalism attacks. I made a post about it here, I'd appreciate it if you could help me spread the word so that more projects implement this. Thanks, pfctdayelise 01:27, 29 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This will be in Wikizine number 20 --Walter 19:19, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There was 42 participants including 5 from abroad. 10 lectures were delivered and many discussions took place among participants. During the meeting General Member Assembly 2006 I was organized. 17 Association's members and several guests accepted Realization of Board plans for 2006 and Interim Budget. There was discussion about Wikicontest and several other issues.

PD-Soviet will be deprecated on Commons[edit]

The template PD-Soviet in its current form will very probably be deprecated on Commons, and replaced by something that is more accurate. The reason, as put forth by commons:user:Lupo, is that images published in the Soviet before 1973 are, simply put, not necessarily public domain as the template currently claims.

Images with the template will not necessarily be deleted, but many probably will. Other Wikipedias should probably be made aware to be cautious of the PD-Soviet tag. They can also take part in the discussion at commons:template_talk:PD-Soviet.
