Embedded Newlines

[edit]

The template body, as defined 11/6/05, looks like

(!-- html intro comment on usage
--)
body definition..

(using '(' instead of < to avoid display issues ;-)

The trailing newline (NL) separating the intro comment --) and the body definition, is rendered in the output, causing a linebreak in the calling page, wherever used. At least this was the behaviour when I (LaryLACa) copied it to en.wikipedia 11/06/05.

I can't tell if this is intentional or an oversight. It definitely affects the usage in Help:Template (on meta). Removing the NL would change the appearance of the help page, which already suffers enough.

I have removed the NL separating the intro comment and the body, in the en.wikipedia copy, which I created today, 11/6/05. That's enough boldness for today. --LarryLACa 18:33, 6 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

What is the point of hiding the talk page when it is red?Hillgentleman

The template uses {{links}}, which was designed to provide existing information. I don't really care either way; if you think it should include redlinks, I'll remove the redlink check. —{admin} Pathoschild 03:14:43, 01 September 2007 (UTC)
