BACKGROUND

Turkic Wikimedia Conference is an annual gathering of Wikimedians and supporters of Wikimedia projects in Turkic languages. The conference aims to bring together all the people who work on Wikimedia projects and support the development of projects and the Wikimedia Movement on a local and global level. Today, more than 200 million people speak Turkic languages, and the geography of the speakers unites Turkey, Azerbaijan, Iran, Central Asia, China, and Russia. On this basis, the development and support of communities of Turkic-speaking Wikimedians are critical.

The Turkic Wikimedia Conference 2023 is organized and hosted by Wikimedia Turkic UG (WMTRK) Wikimedia UG Turkey (WMTR) in close collaboration with the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF).

• Registration period for representatives of Wikimedia affiliations (Chapters and User Groups): 19 June 2023 — 10 July 2023.
• Registration period for self-funded participants and for everyone else: 10 July 2023 — 31 July 2023.

Delegates selected by their communities must register using the Affiliate Delegate Registration Form (given below). All expenses for travel, accommodation, and food (in Istanbul only) will be organized and covered by WMTR. Please note that there will be no reimbursements.
