About me

[edit]

I am Ryddhel Cyrille NGOULOU BATALA, a young Congolese from Brazzaville, passionate about law and deeply committed to the community. My name, a tribute to an unsung hero, reflects my desire to make a significant contribution to the world. I am fascinated by online communities and the sharing of free knowledge. The Wikipedia galaxy, with its collaborative spirit, quickly captivated me. I love learning, sharing my knowledge, and discovering new perspectives.

By joining this community, I aspire to grow, learn from everyone, and contribute my part. Together, we can build a better future

About my work

[edit]

In 2022, i started my Wikimedia journey in the Republic of Congo thanks to Kani Beat, a Congolese Wikimedian studying in Cameroon who recommended Wiki Mooc to me. Building on this training, i deepened my skills within Wiki Wake Up Afrique, supported by Mermoze, René Bille and the team.

That same year, we co-founded the Wikimedians of Republic of Congo User Group, initiating numerous activities in collaboration with Valentin from the DRC and other Wikimedians. Since then, I have been an active member of the community, participating in various projects. I have notably discovered programming on Wikipedia and developed a particular interest in Wikidata. In April 2024, our group was officially recognized by the Wikimedia Foundation and I was elected president. In this role, i coordinated several major events: Wiki Loves Africa 2024, Wiki Loves Earth 2024 and the International Month of Francophone Contribution. In September 2024, i also supported Aimery10 in organizing the AfroCreatives project.

As a trainer and organizer, i have had the pleasure of seeing many passionate contributors join our team and in turn become trainers and campaign leaders. I am currently supporting the Wikimedia community of Angola, with the support of Arno Boujika, Kani Beat and AfroCrowd, in the process of their affiliation.
