From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

What's better for finding a community than having a group of people with similar interests as yours? On Wikimedia, as in all other online or offline contexts, we can gather around and share experiences, knowledge and projects with individuals that have something in common with us.

For new LGBT+ users, it may not be easy to find a place to call yours, where you feel fully accepted, and you can be who you are, so I am here to share a few tips on how to find fellow LGBT+ Wikimedians. As you may have seen if you read previous posts, I am a member of the Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group, and I would totally recommend you to be one too. This is a group where you can meet other users from all around the world, get involved in projects and help to develop content related to our community.

Each year there's also Wiki Loves Pride event, a special project supported by Wikimedia LGBT+ and les sans pagEs. Its main goal is to bring users together to create and improve LGBT-related content on all Wikimedia projects. It is a global effort, and you are encouraged to contribute on whatever language you speak. This year's edition will happen in June, so stay tuned!

If you want to find your local community, there are also a few LGBT portals on Wikipedia where you can find articles to contribute and get to know other Wikimedians. Check out the Wikidata item Portal:LGBT (Q7409021), which links to all the existing Wikipedia portals globally.
