WikiPathways is a database of biological pathways maintained by and for the scientific community. A pathway describes biological processes like how your body turns food into energy or how a cancer starts and spreads. These biological processes generally involve genes, proteins and small molecules all interacting with each other, splitting and combining, "telling" each other to speed up or shut down. This activity can be illustrated as a diagram, with the interactions represented as arrows that connect genes, proteins and small molecules.
