Technical Advocacy and Support[edit]

What
Technical engagement and outreach of Wikimedia projects for technical users or developers. To support the communities' needs in terms of technical aspects and also help the community in participation of the same.
Why
There being content givers or editors mostly within the Indian communities, there is also an equivalent need to train or make the editors aware of the tools or developer challenges. Also those who are tech savvy must be supported with essential needs. If there exists trained volunteers in the tech side of Wiki this will in turn help in knowing the needs of the local communities and the support from A2K will be extended accordingly.
How
Organising workshops with every Indian language Wiki community for outreach and also training the volunteers with the skills they possess. Also these trained volunteers can group to do mini-hackathons that focus on a specific goal or development of a tool.
Expected Outcome

  • Number of workshops: 5 (city- level workshops with participants across the particular regional communities)
  • Number of Mini-hackathons: this depends on the number of tools and technical requirement of particular communities.

Community Movement Resources for women development[edit]

What
The Community Management resources are supporting materials which would be developed for a more active involvement of the women contributors in the Indian language Wikimedia communities.
Why
As a follow-up from the "Bridging the Gender gap" research at A2K, the women in the communities needs a training with proper guidance. This will help in crafting out the resources in regional Indian languages to help the women contributors in the community.
How

  • Making localised versions of step-by-step process to make women in community to create initiatives or changes that they want to see in their communities.
  • Creating videos on guidelines to improve and know more about Community Health.
  • Creating documents which will help women in the community to emerge out in safe space and create one on their own.

Expected Outcome

  • Workshop on how to get started with these CMR - 5
  • Video - 1 (localised to Indic languages)
  • Handbooks - 100

BGG Virtual Reality web interface[edit]

What
Continuation on improvisation of the web interface with more reference to the resources so it becomes a single stop for all gender gap Wikimedia related facts and programs.
Why
There are many references on Wiki which gives data about the gender gap that exists in Wikimedia, this web interface helps in an easy way of engaging the user and also this is more interesting as it uses Virtual technology.
How

  • This will contain about the research works on gender gap happening at CIS-A2K.
  • A contact interface would be added so that any women from India seeking any help genuinely can be resolved.
  • Featuring Indian Wikiwomen's works on the website will provide more recognition to the contributors and will inspire more women to contribute.
  • A workshop on how to add features and more categories to this webpage will be hosted.

Expected Outcome
A full web interface with all the relevant content about gender gap in Wikimedia and about the researches on gender gap in Indian language Wikimedia communities carried out at A2K will be updated on this webpage, this webpage will be also hosted through WMF tools. Metrics:
