Intro


Acting

Colleen Shaw is a composer, singer, musician, model, actress, abstract photographer, poet, writer and political activist. She began writing poetry at the young age of 8 and short stories at the age of 9. Around the same time, she began starring in school and church productions but her more formal training began at the age of 13 from the Drama Club at Liberty Junior High. She was able to expand her skills into comedic timing, pantomime, improv, and showmanship. Also, it was there that Colleen began skit writing and play writing. At Berkner High School, Colleen was in the Theatre Club (2000-2003) under the guidance of Mrs. Unkenholz, the former teacher of Jensen Ackles (Star of Supernatural). She was in a number of plays including A Tree with Arms, Goodnight Mother, Importance of Being Ernest, and Much Ado About Nothing. Colleen also participated in many Black Box Theater productions in experimental dramas, improv comedy and technical support in set design and lighting. After graduating high school in 2003, Colleen was accepted into Texas A & M-Commerce with a major in Music. She continued acting during her college years starring as Catesby in Richard III and as an extra in 2 music videos (Mercy Me- "Here am I", Newsboys-"Love, Liberty, Disco"). In 2010, She landed her first on camera speaking role for the short independent film "Fire Sale" directed by Zachary Honea.

Music'

Colleen had an early start in music at the age of 5 in children's choirs and church productions. Colleen began her formal training in music at the age of 12 as a percussionist. She participated in numerous UIL competitions throughout her school years and received a bronze metal for State Finalist in 5A UIL marching band in 2002. In 2000-2003, Colleen went to Berkner High School, a renown public school for its interests in the performing arts. There she had the musical direction of Michael Brashear (Current Texas Bandmasters Association Executive Director) and the private instruction of Brian West (arranger and Percussion Coordinator of Texas Christian University). She performed at the Meyerson Symphony in Dallas several times between 1999-2003.

In 2003-2005, Colleen attended college at Texas A & M with a major in music. She played in numerous ensembles including steel drums band, Women's Choir and a special production with Greg Bassonette, the former drummer for David Lee Roth. In 2005, Colleen was accepted into the musically accredited University of North Texas with a major in music composition. During this time, she participated in Seraphim Choir as a mezzo and went on tour with them in Ireland in 2007. She performed in St. Patricks Cathedral in Dublin and in other smaller churches while on tour. She continues to perform in small venues and local bars.

Modeling

Colleen has done modeling for photographer's portfolios (Heather Shaw, Michelle Bradshaw, Jennifer Smith, Jonathan Wallace), make up modeling (Mary Kay) and art modeling (Jonathan Wallace). She posed for one piece that won an award in a local exhibition (Untitled, Jonathan Wallace, Best Portrait for Natural Light 2004). Politics

Colleen filed with the state of Texas for the office of Precinct Chair in October 2009. She was appointed as Precinct Chair of Precinct 418 in Denton County and sworn in January 2010. Colleen Shaw was elected to her office in May 2010. She is the Secretary of the Young Democrats Club, member of the Environmental Committee, and member of Democratic Women.
