While I have been an avid user of Wikipedia for years, I am a relatively new contributor and got involved in Wikisource through Primary Source Corps (PSC). PSC applies principles of gamification to encourage students and other players to contribute texts from digital library collections to Wikisource. The idea is to make these texts easier to find, provide context for them, help to build the Wikisource community ...and have some fun in the process!
