Hi! I’m Hridyesh Gupta, an open-source developer, community mentor, and Wikimedian from India. I’m currently based in Geneva, Switzerland, working as a Software Developer Intern at CERN. I’m deeply involved in the Wikimedia technical ecosystem and passionate about creating inclusive spaces for new contributors to thrive in open knowledge platforms.

My work

Community Leadership

I’m the founder of WikiClub Tech-UIT and facilitator of WikiClub Tech- India. Through our Road to Wiki Program, we’ve built regional communities across India by onboarding students from tier 2 and 3 institutions, conducting technical workshops, and mentoring them into becoming active Wikimedia contributors.

I also serve as a contributor and community representative in the South Asia Newsletter team, where I help frame content, highlight technical aspects, and share my community activities from across the region. Apart from these communities, I'm the co-organizer of TensorFlow User Group- Prayagraj and the technical lead of Google Developer Group- Prayagraj.

Tools I've Developed

  • Wiki-OCR Tool: I created and maintain the Wiki-OCR Tool, which allows users to perform OCR on PDF files hosted on Wikimedia Commons as well as external URLs and PDFs, which is a feature not commonly supported by other Wikimedia OCR tools. It supports multiple languages, including Indic scripts. [Source Code]
