User:Iamunknown/IRC permission/header

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

It became apparent at the January 2007 requests for deletion for IRC channel quotes that the consensus was to keep. Some users argued that the page violats the IRC guidelines. Generally, the argued that the quotes violate the clause, you may not "post public logs of any channels without prior permission from all persons quoted." Others, however, argued that it was not a violation of that policy; and still others wanted it if it whether or not it was a violation of that policy.

I will now be contacting as many users as I can identify in the quotations, asking them to explicitly deny or allow excerpts of conversations including their comments, and acting accordingly. I will ask them to explicitly deny or allow excerpts because I want to make this a straightforward as possible; namely, I cannot be the judge of what is acceptable to another person, and so I must receive an explicit denial from them.

The process for using this page will be as follows:

  1. Ask the user to reply on your talk page
  2. Do not mention the user's name
  3. Add, as a bulleted item below, a diff link to where the user's statement is
  4. Wrap the diff link in brackets
  5. Revert to first version of page
  6. Repeat
