About me

Hi, my name is Isaac Chabota Kanguya, but in the Wikimedia world, I’m better known as Icem4k. I’m an enthusiastic contributor to several language editions of Wikipedia, including Chi-Chewa Wikipedia, English Wikipedia, and occasionally Simple English Wikipedia.

My passion for spreading free knowledge and making information accessible to all drives my work on these platforms. Born on February 20th in the town of Mumbwa, a place that deeply shaped my outlook on life, I’ve always been inspired by the power of sharing stories and insights across languages and cultures.

Through my contributions, I strive to bridge language gaps and ensure that valuable knowledge reaches a diverse and global audience.

My work

In the Wikimedia world, I have been actively engaged in a range of impactful initiatives. In 2018, I participated in WikiGoesACCT in Uganda, contributing to the collaborative spirit that defines the Wikimedia community. I later spearheaded Wiki Loves Africa in Zambia in 2019 and 2020, using photography to promote cultural awareness and diversity.

Building on this momentum, I championed environmental conservation by organizing Wiki Loves Earth in Zambia in 2022 and 2023. These initiatives not only celebrated the country’s breathtaking natural beauty but also underscored the Wikimedia movement’s commitment to preserving our planet’s treasures.

Beyond these Wikimedia projects, I have partnered with esteemed institutions such as the Women’s History Museum and the Swedish Embassy, reflecting my passion for history, culture, and international collaboration.

Currently, I am leading efforts to establish the Wikimedia Community User Group Zambia—a platform designed to foster collaboration, learning, and knowledge sharing among individuals dedicated to advancing Wikimedia’s mission.

Outside the Wikimedia sphere, I lead a multifaceted professional life. Since 2021, I have served as a Computer Operator at the Zambia National Service, supporting the nation’s technological development.

Across all these roles, I remain committed to fostering innovation, collaboration, and positive change. I look forward to building on this journey and contributing meaningfully to the Wikimedia movement and beyond.
