WAP[edit]

While the Wikimedia Foundation does not have any official project of this nature, there are several significant efforts to bring Wikipedia content to WAP-enabled devices. Our article on these projects covers their relative strengths, and includes addresses: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WAP_access

'libre' vs. 'gratis'[edit]

Actually, both "gratis" and "vrije" are correct in this context. While Wikipedia's content may be accessed free of charge (gratis), it may also be re-used and altered with little to no restriction (vrije).

In English, we can get away without distinguishing the concepts, because "free" covers both meanings - and, in honesty, it would look pretty clumsy if we tried to distinguish between them in the tagline.

When working in a language that *can* easily distinguish between the two, though, we have to make a deliberate choice of which to use, and we feel that "vrije" is a more important aspect to emphasise than "gratis" is. Most of the internet is provided free, but not much of it is as free and open as we are.

I hope this relieves your concern. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Why is my language's Wikipedia so small?[edit]

While the $LANG language does have more speakers than many other languages, each language's Wikipedia is independent of others and has its own community of editors. Though the $LANG Wikipedia is growing quickly, it is still quite a bit smaller than many other language versions.

The best way to help the $LANG Wikipedia to grow is to join its community and contribute. Though you do not have to create a username, doing so allows you to keep track of your contributions and gives you a few more editing options. <link to appropriate language version>

You can see the current size of any Wikipedia on our list of Wikipedias: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wikipedias

Thank you for your interest in Wikipedia. I hope this has answered your question.

Google/Yahoo cache not updated![edit]

Unfortunately, Wikipedia has no direct control over cached versions of its articles. However, both Yahoo! and Google update their caches regularly, and if the offending text has not already disappeared from the cache then it will soon.

You can view the original article without the offending text at <$ARTICLE>. Additionally, the history for this article is available at <$ARTICLE_HISTORY>.
