Lagos Wikipedia Secondary School Campaign

The project is to introduce Wikimedia projects to secondary school students starting with Lagos. An average secondary student in Nigeria is not aware that you can contribute but only aware that you get information from Wikipedia. Most secondary students in Nigeria have access to mobile phones and internet and hence use it mainly for social media purposes. Most Wikimedia education in Nigeria projects have only focused on tertiary institution students and leaving out secondary school students but with the insight I got from this Education Mooodle School, it’s important and crucial that the secondary school students should be reached as well.

Project Goal[edit]

The project will focus on secondary school students and teachers, thus achieve all these:

  • Expose the students and teachers to contributing to Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.
  • Information and Data literacy
  • Recruit new editors.
  • Allow the students and teachers to inculcate Wikipedia in their educational resources.
  • Start a Wikipedia club at the schools.
  • Increase skills for existing editors
  • Add or improve content about Lagos state
