Welcome template

Usage

Format

{{subst:User:Fridae'sDoom/Welcome-message
  | Message =
  | Heading =
  | Contribs =
  | Article =
}}

Remove the parameters that are unneeded. See next section for information on the parameters.
For the default welcome message, use {{subst:User:Fridae'sDoom/Welcome-message}}.

Explanation

Parameter[1] Options[2] Explanation
Message <!-- Nothing -->,[3] a custom message An optional message you want to send to the welcomed user. Note that the hidden comment does not show up if this parameter is removed.
Heading Welcome, <!-- Nothing -->,[3] another heading A heading that you can use instead of the default "Welcome" one. Having the parameter set to nothing removes the header. Removing the parameter uses the default "Welcome" heading. You can change it to another heading.
Contribs no, anything else If you set this parameter to no, the "and I would like to thank you for your contributions" phrase will not appear. If you don't set it to anything, or set it to anything else, the phrase will appear.
Art
Article
<!-- Nothing -->,[3] an article name This parameter can be used to thank someone for contributions to a specific article.
  1. The parameters are case-insensitive.
  2. The default setting is in bold, and the other choices are next to the default options.
  3. a b c Means that nothing is inputed, not the hidden comment.

Demonstration

See here for a demonstration of what this template looks like.

Notes

  1. The parameters do not need to be capitalized.
  2. The time displayed is the recently purged time (click here to purge), the time will display when it was added to a new user's talk page when substituted.
  3. The template won't work correctly if you do not subst: it. Please subst: this template.
  4. The substed template won't look completely like the one here.
  5. Adapted from MC10's welcome message with a few changes made.
