Measures of success[edit]

Please use the below table to:

  1. List each of your original measures of success (your targets) from your project plan.
  2. List the actual outcome that was achieved.
  3. Explain how your outcome compares with the original target. Did you reach your targets? Why or why not?

|- | style="background-color: #FFFFFF; padding: .5em 2em"| A minimum of 1300 photographs (with proper descriptions) of folk dress and folk art on Wikimedia Commons. | style="background-color: #FFFFFF; padding: .5em 2em"|

  • 2300 images uploaded
  • Photos taken by team are complemented by museum images.

| style="background-color: #FFFFFF; padding: .5em 2em"| Completed. We have reached our assumed target and extended it by around 1000 files. Some files still need extended descriptions and checks and this is ongoing. |-

|- | style="background-color: #FFFFFF; padding: .5em 2em"| A minimum of 20 short video clips on Wikimedia Commons. | style="background-color: #FFFFFF; padding: .5em 2em"|

  • 28 short videos uploaded
  • The videos are already reused in a number of articles, see statistics.

Provide an overall assessment of how your project is going according to these measures.
  • 5 planned wikiexcursions have been carried out according to plan;
  • We have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons about 2300 media files, 28 short video clips, and wrote (or expanded) over 110 Wikipedia articles.
While doing this project, have you decided to track any other measures of success not listed in your grant submission? If so, please list them here.
  • We will shortly begin collecting data based on global metrics – such as the number of bytes added to each article and number of users (and other individuals) involved throughout the project.

Remember that you will need to report on Global Metrics in your final report.

Global Metrics[edit]

We are trying to understand the overall outcomes of the work being funded across our grantees. In addition to the measures of success for your specific program (in above section), please use the table below to let us know how your project contributed to the Global Metrics. We know that not all projects will have results for each type of metric, so feel free to put "0" where necessary.

  1. Next to each required metric, list the actual outcome achieved through this project.
  2. Where necessary, explain the context behind your outcome. For example, if you were funded for an edit-a-thon which resulted in 0 new images, your explanation might be "This project focused solely on participation and articles written/improved, the goal was not to collect images."

For more information and a sample, see Global Metrics.

Metric Achieved outcome Explanation
1. # of active editors involved
2. # of new editors
3. # of individuals involved 30 direct participants, 30 remote participants, 30 attendees of meetings etc = about 90 Various groups engaged with the project in many different ways (extend)
4a. # of new images/media added to Wikimedia articles/pages 1003 usages in projects, 500 individual images used. See statistics. We uploaded 2300 instead of the planned 1300 files, and the reuse rate for the entire category is around 25%.
4b. # of new images/media uploaded to Wikimedia Commons (Optional) 2300
5. # of articles added or improved on Wikimedia projects 130
6. Absolute value of bytes added to or deleted from Wikimedia projects
Learning question
Did your work increase the motivation of contributors, and how do you know?
Many examples:
  • Letter from the Ethnographic Society
  • Participation of students
  • Online social media group devoted to the project
  • Questions from institutions willing to join or copy project
