Mary Chuwa hails from Kilimanjaro in Moshi Municipal. She attended Pasua Primary School then Msasani Secondary School for O Level. She later joined Mawenzi for her Advanced Level Secondary School. In 2014 she attended the Tanzanian Compulsory Military Service Training at Makutupora Junior Camp in the intake to mark 50 years of the Union of the Republic of Tanzania.

Mary is now studying at Ardhi University pursuing Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning. In July 2015 she participated in Community Mapping for Flood Resilience using the OpenStreetMap in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.
